MADISON, WIS. — Volker Development, based in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, has selected McShane Construction Co. to build Kelly Station, a 76-unit affordable housing project in Madison. Specifics about government subsidy financing or rent restrictions were not released, but local news sources report the Dane County Board of Supervisors approved $4 million in funding toward the project. According to a press release, the development partners include the county as well as the City of Madison, the Dane Workforce Housing Fund II and the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority.

Kelly Station will be constructed on about one acre at 2462 E. Washington Ave. A start date wasn’t released, but completion is slated for October 2026. Knothe & Bruce is the architect.

Units will feature natural wood cabinets, stainless-steel appliances and bathroom vanities with marble countertops. Some units will have balconies. Amenities will include a club room, rooftop deck, fitness center and community room. The property was designed to achieve Wisconsin Green Built Homes certification. Key green features include a rooftop solar array that will help offset electricity usage in the building’s common area as well as a stormwater management system that helps reduce water runoff.
