PHOENIX — Greenlight Communities has broken ground on a 159-unit affordable housing community located at 33455 N. North Valley Parkway in Phoenix. The project will offer 59 studios, 66 one-bedroom units and 34 two-bedroom units. The property will feature three courtyards with various amenities. With the community situated between charter schools, Greenlight Communities plans to support the local education system by offering housing options to families seeking high-quality education for their children. The project is set to begin leasing in October 2024. Income restrictions were not disclosed.

MIAMI — Miami-Dade County, in partnership with locally-based developer Related Group, has opened Robert King High and Paseo del Rio, two affordable housing communities in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood. The two properties serve as the fourth and fifth phases of the River Parc master plan, a $1 billion mixed-income redevelopment project. SCHERTZ, TEXAS — A partnership between the Schertz Housing Authority and The NRP Group have broken ground on Aviator 1518, a 300-unit affordable housing development in Schertz. The project is financed through four percent housing tax credits allocated by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. BUFFALO, N.Y. — Habitat, a developer and property manager based in Chicago, has received planned unit development approval from the Buffalo Common Council to redevelop Marine Drive Apartments. The $400 million project is a joint venture between Habitat, Duvernay + Brooks and the Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority. The property currently comprises 616 units across seven 12-story towers, which were built more than 70 years ago and have since fallen into disrepair. The developer also plans to invest a further $51.9 million to renovate both properties.
