CHICAGO — Chicago-based developer and owner-operator Core Spaces has appointed six professionals to the company’s executive leadership team.
- Sean Devine has joined Core Spaces as executive vice president of property operations and experience. Devine will lead Core Spaces’ operational teams across the company’s student housing and build-to-rent (BTR) portfolios.
- Jennifer Holmes has transitioned to the role of chief operating officer, where she will oversee multiple departments, including operations, accounting and finance, people operations and technology. Holmes previously served as Core Spaces’ chief financial officer.
- Merritt Poole will replace Holmes as chief financial officer. Poole will lead financial planning and analysis, accounting, tax, accounts payable and treasury functions at the company.
- Additionally, Christine Bentley has joined Core Spaces as chief information officer. Bentley will oversee Core Spaces’ IT strategy, systems and data management.
- Core Spaces has promoted Katy Darnaby to the role of chief marketing officer, where she will lead the company’s brand marketing and communications efforts.
- Jourdan Vartabedian has joined the company as vice president of leasing and sales. In this position, she will oversee strategic sales initiatives and lead a team to optimize leasing and exceed revenue targets.
Founded in 2010, Core Spaces owns and operates approximately 45,600 student housing beds, with a pipeline of over 43,000 beds underway. Additionally, the company has a pipeline of approximately 3,000 BTR homes under development. Core Spaces states that it currently has $5.7 billion in combined equity under management.
